Chief (Dr.) Barry Pere Gbe is a Deltan who hails from Akugbene town in Bomadi Local Government Area. Born to the family of Chief Nelson Gbe in 15th May, 1970. He attended Olodi Primary School, Warri and had his secondary education at College of Commerce, Warri both in Delta State.
At a young age, he gained admission into the University of Benin where he graduated with a Bachelors of Art (Hons.) in Linguistics.
Dr. Gbe is a seasoned banker and public policy consultant. His career in banker span across 14 years where he rose to the position of a manager. Before his nomination as a Commissioner, he was a Member of the Delta State Board of Internal Revenue. He holds a doctorate degree in Business Administration from the prestigious Leeds Beckett University in the United Kingdom. This he attained after acquiring several Master degrees including Master of Business Administration (MBA) from University of Benin, Masters of Science in Organisational Behaviour (UNILAG), Masters of Science in Policy and Development Studies from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, and a Masters in Industrial/Labour Relations from Delta State University, Abraka in Delta State.
Chief (Dr.) Gbe have also attended short Executive Education courses in some world-class Universities, like Harvard, University of Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) all in the United States of America. Locally, he has run executive courses with high profile bodies like KPMG and Lagos Business School. His areas of core competency and concentration are Strategy, Compensation, Leadership, Business Modeling, Performance Management, Risk Management, to mention but a few. In fact a major strand of his doctoral research focused on how organizations can gain a competitive advantage through their compensation practices.
Dr. Gbe also belong to various professional bodies, some of which he is honoured with the prestigious Fellow award as shown below:

2) FELLOW –Chartered Institute of Loan & Risk Management of Nigeria.
3) FELLOW – Institute of Credit Administration.
6) MEMBER – Chartered Institute of Personnel Management
7) MEMBER – Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria
And a host of other recognized professional bodies in and outside the shores of this country.
He has been honoured as a Justice of the Peace (JP) by in the Delta State Government for his immeasurable contribution to peace building, social justice, community harmony and human advancement in Delta State. He also holds a Chieftaincy title from a renowned Kingdom in Delta State.
He was a Governing Council member of UNIPORT Business School.
He has been seen to have contributed his quota, at some point to the formation and development of governance in Delta State. He served in the Finance Committee of Okowa campaign organization (2015) and also the Uduaghan/Okowa Transition/Handover Committee inaugurated by H/E Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa (2015).
He is happily married with children.
